When using vaporizers you must, must, must, ALWAYS grind your materials. A vaporizer passes hot air over the surface of the material to extract it’s active ingredients. Grinding your materials will increase the surface area of which the hot air can pass over them creating more active vapor while using less product to do so.
An herb grinder (also called a “bud grinder”, or just a “grinder”) is a cylindrical contraption with two halves (top and bottom) that separate and have sharp teeth or pegs aligned in such a way that when both halves are turned, material inside… is shredded, …” ~WIKIPEDIA
There are many different types of grinders most commonly varying in the amount of pieces they come apart into.
A 2 piece grinder is the most simple and consists of just a top and bottom half. This is a basic grinder but has the essentials to get the job done.
A 3 piece grinder has small holes in the bottom half for the material to drop through to the storage compartment once it is shredded. This takes some of the guess work out of knowing when your material is shredded enough.
A 4 piece grinder is like the 3 piece but with a screen leading to a third compartment. This screen will sift out pollen that may be on the material which can get caught in the screens of some vaporizers and ultimately damage them. The pollen is often saved for other projects.
There are some manufactures that produce a 5 piece grinder which has a second screen which can double filter the pollen and leaves 2 different grades of pollen as an end result.
Any of the vaporizers on this site include a FREE grinder and an option for a discounted upgrade.
